Christy Cote teaches tango, Wednesdays in Berkeley! This is a series of four dates. We encourage everyone to sign up for all four classes, but drop-ins are also welcome. Christy is a professional tango teacher who has been a central figure in Bay Area tango for many years. Join us for a fun, challenging class!
The beginner class is open to all levels. The intermediate class is geared towards people who have been dancing for at least three months (12 tango classes).
These classes are taught using the terms “leaders” and “followers,” and are inclusive to queer, trans, and non-binary people.
Wednesdays, September 3rd, 10th, 17th, Oct 1st
6:45 pm: check-in
7:00-8:00 pm beginning tango series
8:00-8:30 pm practica
8:30-9:30 pm intermediate tango series
9:30-10:00 pm practica.
The practicas are included with the classes. Stay, dance, and ask questions! Beginners may stay and watch the intermediate class. Intermediate students are welcome to arrive at 8:00 to practice together with the beginners.
$80 general admission (four classes, beg. or int.)
$25 general admission (single class, beg. or int.)
$15 student with ID (single class, beg. or int.)
We accept cash and venmo at the door
If you decide to attend both the beginner and intermediate class, please pay for both classes ($40).

Drinks are for sale at Morgan’s Bar and Lounge, across the hall from the ballroom. All ages are welcome in the dance classes.
We are a 10-minute walk from Downtown Berkeley BART. For bike parking, use the bell to enter through the service entrance, and go straight to get to the back courtyard. No parking in the City Club lot. Street parking is free after 6:00 pm. Extra parking is available for $2 per hour at the Ellsworth Structure at 2337 Haste St. There is also parking at First Church, right across Durant from the Berkeley City Club, for a $10 flat fee (pay with qr code).
