DESCRIPTION:Join us for tango classes with Carrie Field in Berkeley!  Carrie’s classes are influenced by her experience in Pilates\, the Gyrotonic method and yoga. She writes\, “I hope to offer insight that enhances physical presence with yourself and your partner. These tango classes will be influenced by Tango Inform\, which is a collection of exercises to prepare the body specifically for tango.” For more information on tango inform:  https://tangoinform.wordpress.com/ \nWednesdays\, May 20th & 27th\, and June 3rd6:45 pm: check-in7:00-8:00 pm: beginning tango 8:00-8:30 pm: practica8:30-9:30 pm: intermediate tango9:30-10:00 pm: practica \nWe encourage everyone to sign up for all three dates\, but drop-ins are also welcome. \nThese classes are taught using the terms “leaders” and “followers\,” and are inclusive to queer\, trans\, and non-binary people.  No partner necessary; the teacher encourages people to switch partners throughout the class. \nBEGINNING TANGOJoin this beautiful dance of walking in an embrace to orchestrated music. We will learn and explore up to five tango basics with a focus on movement fundamentals.\n\nINTERMEDIATE TANGOThis series at La Bruja explores simple functional anatomy for Tango through concepts and exercises from Tango Inform. Build body awareness\, movement clarity\, and enhance proprioceptive experience. Applications for both follow and leader roles will be offered and we will dance.\n\nMay 20Spinal Torsion for SpiralInvestigating three types of spirals to enhance praxis for Clear Turns\, juicy pivots and a deeper connection.\n\nMay 27Core of the Embrace:A physical and technical understanding the delicious interaction of the and leader/follower relationship.\n\nJune 3Feet and LegsBuilding a constant connection and conversation between the feet\, the floor\, and the core spiral. Practice and exploration of four different crosses.\n\n\nThe intermediate class is geared towards people who have been dancing for at least three months (12 tango classes).\n\n .\nThe practicas are included with the classes. Stay\, dance\, and ask questions! Beginners may stay and watch the intermediate class.
