DESCRIPTION:We are excited to welcome Luz Castinieras to teach both beginning tango and milonga at La Bruja!  The beginner class is geared toward absolute beginners and also anyone who would like to work on their fundamentals.  No partner or experience necessary.\n.\nFor the intermediate class\, we focus on milonga.  Luz is a master of milonga\, both as a leader and a follower. In the milonga class\, she explains the differences between body movement in tango and milonga\, which apply even to the most basic steps. She also shows us some of the super-fun milonga figures in her repertoire.\n.\n.These classes are taught as “leaders” and “followers” and are inclusive to queer\, trans\, and non-binary people. Role-switching is welcome. \n.\nThese are drop-in classes\, but it helps to come every week.\n .\n7:00-8:00 pm beginner class\n8:00-8:30 pm practica\n8:30-9:30 milonga class (intermediate)\n9:30-10:00 pm practica\n.\n$20 general admission\, single class (cash only)\n$15 for student with ID\, single class (cash only)\n$35 for both classes in one night (cash only)\n.\nThe practica time is included with the class. We encourage students from both classes to dance during the practica. Intermediates:  try to arrive at 8:00!  Drinks are available until 9:00 pm across the hall at Morgan’s Bar and Lounge. DESCRIPTION:Milonga with live music with Villarreal Crom at Ashkenaz! \nWith DJ’d music by Xiaomin Jiang! \n7:30 pm: doors open\n8:00 pm: tango class with Mira Barakat\n9:00 pm: first live set begins\n12:00 am: milonga ends \n$20 in advance\n$25 at the door \nIn Berkeley on their second US tour\, Juan Villarreal and Patricio “Pato” Crom perform fresh interpretations of classic tangos on guitar\, one the original instruments of the genre.  Social dancers themselves\, Juan & Patricio have a special gift for taking their two guitars and voice and creating music that is “100% MILONGUERISIMO BAILABLE” (100% super milonga-appropriate danceable music.)  They craft exquisitely danceable sets from their six albums\, especially from their last two:  D’Arienzo en guitarras (2022) and Moderno trovador (2023). \nJuan and Patricio met on stage at the Milonga del Moran in 2010 in Buenos Aires.  Patricio had come to play with his quintet “Malo Conocido\,” and Juan was there to sing as a guest with Hernan “Cucuza” Castiello.  From that meeting the Duo Villarreal-Crom was born\, and the musicians started a long journey\, performing at festivals\, milongas\, and concert halls in Buenos Aires\, and also in various countries of South America and Europe. \n“Our guitars brought us together more than a decade ago\, and we swore loyalty to them . . . DESCRIPTION:Diego Lanau and Alejandra Saravia teach beginning tango and intermediate tango dance classes at La Bruja!  Diego and Alejandra are teaching Wednesdays\, July 17th through August 28th.  Catch them while they’re here in the Bay Area! \nThese classes are taught as “leaders” and “followers” and are inclusive to queer\, trans\, and non-binary people. Role-switching is welcome. \n\n\nFor the beginner class\, no experience is necessary. For the intermediate class\, we recommend that you have been dancing tango frequently for at least six months.  Everyone is encouraged to switch partners during the classes\, but you may also decide to stick with the same partner.\n\n\n7:00-8:00 pm beginner class8:00-8:30 pm practica8:30-9:30 pm milonga class9:30-10:00 pm practica\n\nWe encourage everyone to stay\, dance\, and ask questions during the practica. Intermediate students: try to arrive at 8:00.\nDrinks are available across the hall at Morgan’s Bar and Lounge.
