DESCRIPTION:Mira Barakat is back to teach tango at La Bruja!  Mira is equally amazing at leading and following. She is an expert at communicating clearly to a large group. This is a series of four Wednesdays. We encourage everyone to sign up for all four classes (beginner or intermediate)\, but drop-ins are also welcome. \nNo partner necessary; the teacher encourages people to switch partners throughout the class. \nThese classes are taught using the terms “leaders” and “followers\,” and are inclusive to queer\, trans\, and non-binary people. \nWednesdays\, January 7th\, 14th\, 21st\, 28th\n6:45 pm: check-in\n7:00-8:00 pm beginning tango series\n8:00-8:30 pm practica\n8:30-9:30 pm intermediate tango series\n9:30-10:00 pm practica \nThe intermediate class is geared towards people who have been dancing for at least three months (12 tango classes). The beginner class is open to all levels. \n$80 general admission (four classes in January\, beg. or int.)\n$25 general admission (single class\, beg. or int.)\n$15 student with ID (single class\, beg. or int.)\nWe accept cash and venmo at the door. \nTickets are also available on eventbrite:\nBeginner:\nIntermediate: \nThe practicas are included with the classes. DJ Jonas Aquino plays a mix of traditional tango music and alternative music!\n\nNo stiletto heels are allowed at the Hillside Club\, to protect the wooden floor. Please wear either flat dance shoes or dance shoes with low heels\, such as character shoes or west-coast swing shoes. Socks or sneakers are fine too.\n\nThis is a queer-friendly event where everyone is welcome to lead and follow. Role-switching is encouraged.\n\nWe do not have a dance class at this event\, but beginners are welcome. Talk with someone you haven’t met before\, and ask questions! We encourage practicing at this practica. Everyone is free to ask anyone to dance. If someone asks you to dance\, you are always free to say “yes” or “no.”\n\nBYOB: Beer and wine only. We encourage everyone to sign up for all four classes (beginner or intermediate)\, but drop-ins are also welcome. \nNo partner necessary; the teacher encourages people to switch partners throughout the class. \nThese classes are taught using the terms “leaders” and “followers\,” and are inclusive to queer\, trans\, and non-binary people. \nWednesdays\, January 7th\, 14th\, 21st\, 28th\n6:45 pm: check-in\n7:00-8:00 pm beginning tango series\n8:00-8:30 pm practica\n8:30-9:30 pm intermediate tango series\n9:30-10:00 pm practica \nThe intermediate class is geared towards people who have been dancing for at least three months (12 tango classes). DESCRIPTION:Join us for tango classes with Luz Castineiras in February! Luz is a highly experienced tango teacher who teaches fun\, active classes. In the beginner class\, she introduces the fundamentals of social tango. In the intermediate class\, she focuses on dancing to vals!\n\nWednesdays\, February 4th\, 11th\, 18th\, and 25th AND March 4th6:45 pm: check-in7:00-8:00 pm: beginning tango series8:00-8:30 pm: practica8:30-9:30 pm: vals series (intermediate level)9:30-10:00 pm: practica\n\nThe beginner class is open to all levels. The intermediate class is geared towards people who have been dancing for at least three months (12 tango classes).\n\nThese classes are taught using the terms “leaders” and “followers\,” and are inclusive to queer\, trans\, and non-binary people.\n\nNo partner necessary; the teacher encourages people to switch partners throughout the class.\n\nWe encourage everyone to sign up for all four classes\, but drop-ins are also welcome.\n\nThe practicas are included with the classes. Stay\, dance\, and ask questions! Beginners may stay and watch the intermediate class. Intermediates may arrive at 8:00 to practice together with the beginners.\n\n$80 general admission (four classes in February\, beg. or int.)$25 general admission (single class\, beg. or int.)$15 student with ID (single class\, beg. or int.)We accept cash and venmo at the door.\n\nBerkeley City Club2315 Durant Ave.Berkeley\, CA 94704\n\nParking alert for beginner class only: There are Cal basketball games on Wednesday\, Feb. 4th and Wednesday\, Feb. 25th.
