DESCRIPTION:In November\, we are happy to have tango teacher Mira Barakat back at La Bruja! Mira’s classes focus on simple\, elegant movements for social dancing. Mira is equally amazing at leading and following\, and promotes role-switching for those who would like to try it. She is an expert at communicating clearly to a large group. Mira teaches private lessons in Oakland\, is also a frequent teacher at Abrazo Queer Tango in Berkeley. This is a series of three Wednesdays. DESCRIPTION:In November\, we are happy to have tango teacher Mira Barakat back at La Bruja! Mira’s classes focus on simple\, elegant movements for social dancing. Mira is equally amazing at leading and following\, and promotes role-switching for those who would like to try it. She is an expert at communicating clearly to a large group. Mira teaches private lessons in Oakland\, is also a frequent teacher at Abrazo Queer Tango in Berkeley. This is a series of three Wednesdays. We encourage everyone to sign up for all three classes\, but drop-ins are also welcome. \nNo partner necessary; the teacher encourages people to switch partners throughout the class. \nThese classes are taught using the terms “leaders” and “followers\,” and are inclusive to queer\, trans\, and non-binary people. \nWednesdays\, November 12th\, 19th\, and 26th\n6:45 pm: check-in\n7:00-8:00 pm beginning tango series\n8:00-8:30 pm practica\n8:30-9:30 pm intermediate tango series\n9:30-10:00 pm practica \nThe intermediate class is geared towards people who have been dancing for at least three months (12 tango classes). The beginner class is open to all levels. \n$60 general admission (three classes\, beg. or int.)\n$25 general admission (single class\, beg. or int.)\n$15 student with ID (single class\, beg. or int.)\nWe accept cash and venmo at the door. \nTickets are also available on eventbrite:\nBeginner: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1777936829919\nIntermediate: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1777960801619 \nThe practicas are included with the classes. Stay\, dance\, and ask questions! Beginners may stay and watch the intermediate class. Intermediate students are welcome to arrive at 8:00 to practice together with the beginners. If you decide to attend both the beginner and intermediate class\, please pay for both levels ($40). \nBerkeley City Club\n2315 Durant Ave.\nBerkeley\, CA 94704 \nDrinks are for sale at Morgan’s Bar and Lounge\, across the hall from the ballroom. All ages are welcome in the dance classes. \nWe are a 10-minute walk from Downtown Berkeley BART. For bike parking\, use the bell to enter through the service entrance\, and go straight to get to the back courtyard. No parking in the City Club lot. Street parking is free after 6:00 pm. Extra parking is available for $2 per hour at the Ellsworth Structure at 2337 Haste St. There is also parking at First Church\, right across Durant from the Berkeley City Club\, for a $10 flat fee (pay with qr code). \nEvent organized by Lindsey Newbold.
