DESCRIPTION:Felipe Martinez and Ayano Yoneda present a 4- week beginner series (Tango 101) and a 4-week intermediate series!  These are progressive classes\, and we encourage everyone to sign up for the entire series if possible. Drop-ins are allowed at $25 per class.\n\nUPDATE:  Tango 101 has already started.  If you are new to tango\, we recommend that you wait and join us on Wednesday\, Oct. 23rd or 30th\, or Wednesday\, Nov. 6th or 13th.\n\nThese classes are taught as “leaders” and “followers” and are inclusive to queer\, trans\, and non-binary people. Role-switching is welcome.\nEveryone is encouraged to switch partners during the classes\, but you may also decide to stick with the same partner.\n\n7:00-8:00 pm beginner class8:00-8:30 pm practica8:30-9:30 pm intermediate class9:30-10:30 pm practica\n\n$80 general admission\, beginner series (4 classes)\n$80 general admission\, intermediate series (4 classes)\n$60 for student with ID\, beginner or intermediate series\n\nWe encourage everyone to stay\, dance\, and ask questions during the practica. DESCRIPTION:Heyni Solera and Rodrigo Avalos present selections from their new album\, Bach en Bandoneon.  These are original arrangements for two bandoneons!  The event begins with begins with a sit-down concert\, classical-music style.  After the concert\, we transform the space into a milonga\, and Heyni and Rodrigo play tango duets for dancing (and valses and milongas!) \nThis event is inclusive to queer\, trans\, and non-binary people. DESCRIPTION:Wednesdays in March\, David Orly-Thompson teaches both beginning tango and intermediate tango classes at La Bruja!\n\nThe beginner class is geared towards absolute beginners and anyone who would like to work on their fundamentals. For the intermediate class\, we recommend that you have been dancing tango frequently for at least six months.\n\nThese classes are taught as “leaders” and “followers” and are inclusive to folks of all genders\, non-binary & LGBTQ+.\n\n7:00-8:00 pm beginner class\n8:00-8:30 pm practica\n8:30-9:30 pm intermediate class\n9:00-10:00 pm practica\n\n$20 beginner class (cash only)\n$20 intermediate class (cash only)\n$35 for both classes (cash only)\n$15 for student with ID (cash only)\n\nThe practica is included with the class. Students from both classes are encouraged to dance together during the practica.\n\nWe are in the ballroom (upstairs\, with wooden floor) on all dates.\n\nBerkeley City Club\n2315 Durant Ave.\nBerkeley\, CA 94704\n\nWe are a 10-minute walk from Downtown Berkeley BART. With a dance background in Modern dance\, Contact Improv\, Swing and Blues dance\, Mira took quickly to tango after attending her first milonga in 2006 and felt especially drawn to the connection and embrace. A few years later\, she moved to Buenos Aires to study intensively\, dance\, sing and soak up tango in its birthplace. She returns to Buenos Aires every year where she co-hosts a tango immersion program\, BA. Tango Evolution. She works frequently with the queer tango community\, teaching regularly for Abrazo Queer Tango in Berkeley\, and she has taught and performed at the Berlin\, New York\, and Miami Queer Tango festivals. She was a member of the all women’s tango company Tango Con*Fusión from 2016-2019 and toured internationally with the company. She currently offers private classes from her home studio in Oakland as well as group classes around the Bay Area.
